Vehicle Permit Information:
Winton Woods is part of the Great Parks of Hamilton County and a vehicle permit is required to enter. Although a Vehicle Permit is required, there isn't always anyone at the entrance checking for permits. You may be stopped when entering Winton Woods and have to pay if you do not have a current permit. It is usually possible to avoid the vehicle permit check station (which is probably illegal…do this at your own risk) by going to the Jediah Hill Covered Bridge. To view the directions web-page for the covered bridge click here.
From Miles Rd, and Covered Bridge Rd. continue into Winton Woods on Miles Rd. Turn left on West Park Rd. The parking lot for the Shelter Meeting Location is on the left. To get to the parking lot for the No Shelter Meeting Location continue on West Park Rd to Valley View Dr. and turn right, the parking lot will be on your right.

Recommended Equipment:
Any camera will work.
You should base your lens choice(s) on the subject matter of the class/workshop you are attending.
Tripods and Remote Shutter Release if you have them.
Polarizing filters can usually enhance the blue in the sky.
A flash for portrait classes and workshops
A ring-light or flash for macro workshops.
Reflectors are good for both portrait and macros classes.
Hiking boots/shoes and water shoes are a good idea. Walking and hiking will be minimal in most classes and workshops. You will not be required to walk in water but many students choose to do so at the No Shelter Location. The only exception to this is if you are attending a wildlife or Nation photography workshop/class. Both of theses will including walking through water that may be up to 6 inched deep.
Flashlight, in case it is dark before we leave.
Attire:
Dress appropriately for the weather conditions. Except for wildlife and nature photography classes /workshops all walking will be on clear paths. Again you may choose to walk through very shallow water but it will not be required. We strongly recommend closed toe shoes or boots. If it has been raining in the days prior to your class/workshop, waterproof shoes or hiking boots are a good idea.
